FATAL CRASH NEAR CENTER


One Hazen area man is dead following a two-vehicle crash north of Center last week.

On Friday, Sept. 1, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department reported a fatal crash occurring at the intersection of Highway 200A and Highway 48, the latter being the road to Center. The crash occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s department, the first vehicle, a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Bobby Cochran Jr., a 53-year-old male, was traveling north on Highway 48 towards the T intersection. The motorcycle failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a GMC Acadia traveling westbound on Highway 200A. The second vehicle was driven by Dennis Dietz, also of Hazen.

The report from the Mercer County Sheriff’s department stated that Bobby Cochran Jr. died of his injuries while en route to the hospital. The motor vehicle crash report stated that Dietz was transported to Sakakawea Medical Center for suspected minor injuries.
